In the tumultous whirlpool of abject middle class travails,your cute little skinny bulbul,fed by a meagre supply ofMOTHERS WHITE GOLD(milk in simpler terms)

after all managed to crawl one fine day,dragging himself slowly,maybe a foot or two.

With an innocent smile he raised his head and looked up at mom as if asking to be applauded for this stupendous feat..He felt like he had conquered Mt.Everest or the Alps without a sherpa or guide.

Mom,busy with her chores hardly noticed bulbuls first attempt to MOVE..To draw her attention he sprawled on the floorand let out a loud shriek and started crying.

Turning around MOM found her her baby a good distance away from where she had put him to sleep..At first she didnt realise this but it soon dawned on her that BULBUL had indeed taken his first steps in this adventurous world.

The wailing shook her out of her stupor and rushing towards him she swooped him off the floor,hugging him,kissing him and cuddling him.

Bulbul though happy could not understand the importance of this moment.Mom had never been so happy before.Bulbul repeated the crawl again

when mom put him down on the floor and called.

Aa,aa,aaja,aaja,aaaaaaaaaja raja. Moms face lit up like the sun her glee was unexplainable...She gripped lil bulbul in her arms and rushed over to the neighbourhood aunty,narrating all this with joy.

Days passed and months later Bulbul made his first attempt to stand and walk.

Thus started bulbuls journey into this uncertain,unfriendly,unknown,unfathomable world.....

Kal Phir Lahrata Aaunga,

Hazaron Khushi Ke Pal Saath Laaunga.

Yeh Na Samajhna Ke Bhuul Gaya Main Tujhe,

Pata Nahin Kyun Aisa Mehsoos Hua Tujhe.

Khata Huee Hai Sachmuch Mujhse,

Baat Nahin Ki Maine Tujhse.

Khelta kuudta rehta tha main

Hawa mein udta rehta tha main.

Achanak toofani aandhi aayee,

The scene is dramatic

Atmosphere threatening

The skies dark blue

The winds ripping through

Roar audibly fearsome

The thought in itself troublesome

Tree branches swaying

The winds swiftly blowing

The thunder the lightning

Is loud and so deafening

Sun is in hiding

Light, murky and fading.

Its just the beginning

All eyes on the skies

Savor the small pleasurers,

Apni jaan ko kabhi koi bhula sakta hai??

Apne dil ki dhadkan ko kabhi koi rula sakta hai.

Bhuul jaana to hai sirf beganon ka kaam.

Hamne to kabse likhdee hai apni jaan bhi tere naam.

Bhayanak andheri raaton ke saayon mein hain kat-thi ratein.

Kaise batauun tumhe,kahne ko bhi honth hain thar-tharatein,

Jabse tujhe khoya hai satathi hain chhoti chhoti baatein.

Kasam se ab sahan nahin hoti hain yeh aa-gha-tein.

Apni jaan ko koi bhula saktha hai??

Socha tha mar-kar jee lenge agle janam mein.

Socha tha jee-kar mar lenge isee janam mein.

Kya karun main bebasi ki jhakad mein huun.

On my trudge back from the mirage.....

Totally deceived by the illusion ,

eyes crestfallen,

heart pounding at a ferocious clip,

Torn dejected and befooled,

i wanted to put an end to the unbearable agony,

to do away the pain,

relinquish this body and fade away from this unrelenting world....

BUT

My inner voice,

My conscience,

My soul,

Cautioned me.

Wait a sec Angel, you dumbo,what you saw was

Gods magic.He tested you ,tempted your eyes to

believe what wasnt there.

Your patience he probed.

His ways are unik and lessons he teaches enlightening.

Be patient,think where u put your foot wrong,

Just dont go away,your eyes may fool you,

but the LORD will never.

What you crossed was a passing phase.....

The testing is over.

When the dust clears and the sun appears

There will be light and warmth again....

I stopped in my tracks,wondering about the facts

pondering over the darkness and the obstacles i faced.

I saw a flicker at the end of the tunnel,

Glowing,shining,sparkling,approaching fast.

Slowly brightness spread,things cleared up,

The mist rose,my eyes shone in the rays of

the brilliant rising sun.

ushering another sober dawn.

There it was ....LIGHT ,

a bounty from the Lord.

My eyes feasted on his creativity.

Belief returned

My eyes had not lied.

Twas the DEVIL who had deceived

And the truth i was deprived.

I closed my eyes a wink to open them again

And there it was PARADISE all over again.

With eyes closed and

open senses i doused myself in his

BENEVOLENCE.

Said my eyes to me...

Angel ,dont believe all what you see thru me,

Am doing just my duty....

Cherish what you like and rubbish all thats brash,

As i will focus on everything thats TRUE or TRASH......

Welcome O butterfly.

You dont know how colorful you are,

How beautiful your wings are.

Your drift is gracefull,

Your flight is lite,

Your flutter to see a delight.

My red hue,

the shiny curves

The feathery feel,

The contours are just momentary.

As is your life,

My existence too is temporary.

Starting as a bud I took a few days to bloom,

Ignorant of the impending doom

I did not see the approaching gloom.

A struggle it was to blossom

And attain this lovely sheen

I have still managed to be alive

Away from the hands of the MEAN.

Braving the heavy rain,

The harsh sun and the unseen

I am eager to suckle you to heights pristine.

Come my love before its too late,

Enjoy my kiss of life and satiate.....

THE KISS

The butterfly looped down softly,
Landing with whiskers spread deftly,
Onto her bosom so lovely.

To avoid the tickle he placed his legs carefully.

Once set he first gave her a joyous hug,

Saw the rose rise in a shiver of a shrug

And open up more in a shy blush

Ecstasy turned into a tremendous flush

The petals shivered to let out virgin nectar in a rush.

Into the flood of juice he dipped

Little by little the nectar he sipped

Twas the first time a red rose he had lipped.

Yeah yeah go on babe,dont stop said the rose,

I shall well up all i can to the shore,

please drink more and more.

The hug became an embrace,

Made heartbeats to race,

Love blossomed with lovers face to face.

Both amalga-mated into a brace,

Until between them was left no space.

Into a dizzy flip went the butterfly,

Pregnant with the juices he could hardly fly.

THANKS SAID THE ROSE,a trifle SHY

BUT

Taking no heed he left on the SLY.

Realising his folly he swooped down from the sky

In the end to tell the RED ROSE a final goodbye.....
